YIAM Transliteration©
Identity Access Management and Governance, the management of digital entities and their lifecycle across different silos, requires standard communication channels to and from those silos and services.
Many identity management tools and solutions do lack a standard communication channel, resulting in a bunch of proprietary or specialized interfaces and connectors, each with its specific requirements and limitations, and most often implemented as a monolith application which lacks scaling on an architectural level.
Using WedaCon‘s YIAM Infrastrukture MicroServices, challenges for common IAM/IAG services offer a scalable and efficient method to add functionality to your software stack.
The Challenge
International companies and organizations often do face a problem on how to deal with integrating entities (users, locations, organizations, to name a few) where those entities do use international characters in their names.
A good example would be an entity of type ‚user‘ from a company in china, greece or ukraine: The naming of that entity most likely is delivered using mandarin, greek or cyrillic characters.
Deriving standard IDM Functionality, for example generating a loginname, is a challenge in this context.
YIAM MicroServices
WedaCon‘s YIAM (Why I am) MicroServices are a set of small and flexible MicroServices which can be used to extend / enhance your Idenity Management Stack.
YIAM MicroServices are provided as small java-binary or as a
container image, providing a secure WebService (RESTful) Endpoint.
Some, as the YIAM Transliteration Service, do offer additional configuration options offering specific functionality tailored to your requirements.
Functionality
YIAM Transliteration Services has 3 basic functionality blocks:
- Transliteration Core using the ICU Libraries (see https://icu.unicode.org/)
- (optional) Target Handling to define a target character/ country definition (eg different target transliteration for letter ‚ü‘ (german: ‚ue‘, all others: ‚u‘)
- Tiny http(s)-service offering a RESTful Web-Interface
Product Variants
The YIAM Transliteration service is available as a ‚real‘ microservice (as a java jar executable) or as container image with the microservice embedded.
Transliteration Example
YIAM Transliteration can be directly integrated into your flow by simply calling the webservice, here by example as a call via ‚curl‘.
Transliterate from greek to german
curl -k -H "Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8" -X POST -d'{"value":"'ΑλφαβητικόςKatálogos'","isoCode":"DE"}'https://localhost:1338/service/transliteration/api1/
Response
{"normalizedValue":"AlphabetikosKatalogos"}
Transliterate from japanese to german
curl -k -H "Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8" -X POST -d '{"value":"トモダチ","isoCode":"DE"}'https://localhost:1338/service/transliteration/api1/
Response
{"normalizedValue":"tomodachi"}
Licensing
YIAM Transliteration Service is licensed per year or as a lifetime license offer.
